From the 4th to 8th April 2022 we look forward to welcoming the young musicians from St John’s Beaumont School, Windsor, to stay with us for a rehearsal tour.
St John’s Beaumont Preparatory School for boys in Old Windsor, Berkshire, has a vibrant music department that encourages boys to try various instruments from an early age. This encouragement has fostered the love for music in many and led to the formation of a popular orchestra.
The visiting orchestra will also enjoy exploring Jersey during their stay, with a visit to Jersey Zoo, an afternoon at Mont Orgueil Castle, souvenir shopping in St Helier, and ‘blocarting’ with Absolute Adventures on St Ouen’s bay.
They will also discover a special Jersey-themed menu one evening here at Chateau Vermont, with bean crock, nettle soup, crab cakes, and black butter cheesecake with Jersey ice cream! A local storyteller will then tell bedtime stories to the group about Jersey myths and legends.
The Director of Music at St John’s Beaumont, Dr Mollison, is delighted by the opportunity to take her orchestra to Chateau Vermont in April 2022, for an intensive course of rehearsals. They look forward to working in the chateau’s inspirational environment that is specifically set up for music ensembles like the SJB Orchestra.
