Our first visiting group since Covid-19 brought tours to a halt is taking place on 19th July 2021, courtesy of Club Europe. The 80-strong group of talented young musicians from across Buckinghamshire will perform as three distinct ensembles, the Buckinghamshire County Youth Orchestra (BCYO), the Buckinghamshire Youth Wind Ensemble (BYWE), and the Buckinghamshire County Youth Choir (BCYC). Their repertoire includes a range of jazz, swing, contemporary and classical music.
The tour aligns perfectly with the Jersey Academy of Music Summer Course, leading to some shared performances and social events. An exciting range of concerts will take place through the week:
Tuesday 20th July 2021 – Mont Orgueil Castle (Middle Ward and Medieval Hall 1.30pm (BCYO and BYWE) and at 2.30pm (BCYC)
Wednesday 21st July 2021 – Reg’s Garden Bandstand at 3pm (BCYC alongside the JAM Summer Course)
Wednesday 21st July 2021 – St Helier Methodist Centre at 7.30pm (all)
Thursday 22nd July 2021 – Liberation Square, St Helier July at 1pm (BCYO and BYWE)
Thursday 22nd July 2021 – Howard Davis Park, St Helier at 5pm (all)
Thursday 22nd July 2021 – Georgetown Methodist Church at 8pm (BCYC alongside the JAM Summer Course)
As well as this busy musical schedule, the group will also be enjoying a beach day at St Brelade’s Bay, with two high-speed RIB speedboats chartered for three hours of fun on the water, plus visits to Gorey Pier and shopping in St Helier. We hope that everyone has a fantastic time!
